Motivation and Consistency

It’s Monday and its time to take control of today and make it yours! No more dreading Monday, take it head on and make it a great day!

Today i want  to talk about motivation and consistency. Here lately I have been getting the question, “How do you stay motivated and consistent with your workouts”? My answer is quite simple and no secret or anything.  Find what you love and do it! It really is that simple. When you find something you love you always look forward to doing it.

Let’s rewind back to last year. I have always stayed pretty active and went to the gym, but I haven’t always given it 110%. I used to go to the gym and just do whatever came to mind. I was kind of all over the place. If there was a class that interested me I would take it, if not I would go hop on one of the machines. Not really doing anything that felt like a whole lot of fun or anything that I really enjoyed. This in return would let me to going consistently to the gym for about 4 weeks then taking a  week or two off. It always happened to me and I just wasn’t sure why.

No fast forward to April of this year. At the end of April I finished my 1/2 marathon and it was time to move on to something else. I kind of got burned out on running so I knew I wanted to switch things up and try something different. I was searching pinterest one day for workouts. I came across this pin and it linked to an article about  WBFF Pro World Champion Andreia Brazier. In the article it talked about her success, eating and over all training. At the end it listed a workout that she does. I took a look at it and said that doesn’t seem to hard and I think I want to give it a try.  Little did I know this is where I would find my new passion for lifting heavy. After seeing her pictures something just clicked and it made me realize I will not get bulky from lifting heavy weights. I will tone up and can lean out. So that is where it all began and I did that workout for 4 weeks.

Everyday I looked forward to going to the gym and lifting heavy. I would get excited and going to the gym was my favorite part of my day. I was liking how excited I was about going to the gym and all this energy. Not to mention the changes I was seeing in my body. That fueled my fire to keep going and give it my all. At the end of the four weeks I wanted more! This was now my passion and I wanted to keep it going. So I came across Jamie Eason’s Live Fit Trainer on bodybuilding.com I was so excited when I found her plan. It was exactly what I wanted.  Her program pushed me to the next level and the changes I was seeing were incredible. I was just so happy and loved going to the gym everyday. I kept surprising myself that I didn’t slack off and quit going. I craved going to the gym and it just became a habit.

I have since completed the Live Fit Trainer and moved on to something else. When you find something you love it doesn’t feel like a chore. It makes you happy and its something you look forward to doing.  This can be applied to other things and not just fitness. When working out you have to find something you love and something that is fun for you. If not you will dread walking into that gym every single day and then it will have an affect on the goals you are trying to accomplish.  Try different things it till you find what suits you best. It can be running, yoga, zumba, kickboxing, lifting, etc. The possibilities are endless. There are so many things to choose from that I know everyone can find something they love.

Once you find what it is you love it will just click. Working out will become second nature and something you look forward to everyday.  Of course you will have days where you are tired and just don’t feel like going. Those are the days I turn to friends or social media. If I ever feel like I don’t want to go I will look at Instagram or Twitter and it gets me motivated right away. Seeing post about it remind me why I need to go and know that I will never regret a workout.

I challenge you to find what it is you love whether it be fitness related or in other parts of your life. It will make you much happier and help you accomplish your goals. Don’t give up and keep going. You will get there!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday beautiful people! I am so happy today is Friday, plus its a holiday weekend! I just love having 3 day weekends.

Football Season is here! I am so exicted and I can’t wait. Tomorrow is Alabama’s first game of the season. We are having a get together at our house and I can’t wait to watch the game with some of our closest friends! Roll Tide!

If you follow me on Instagram then you know I recently got some new kicks. I purchased the Reebok Nano 3.0. I absolutely LOVE them! They are crossfit shoes and so versatile. I don’t do the full crossfit exercises, but I do a lot of cross training and lifting. They are perfect for that. I am so happy with the colors I chose. They are so bright and make me happy!

Fall is upon us and here lately I have been shopping to stock my wardrobe. You know us girls have to be ready for fall fashion! I have always liked combat boots, but wasn’t sure I could pull them off. Every time i see them with leggings or skinny jeans I think girls look so cute. So I finally bought a pair! They will be here tomorrow and I can’t wait!

Last week I finished my previous workout plan. I was following Jamie Eason’s LiveFit program. I absolutely loved it! I even repeated two weeks of it because I liked it so much. This week I decided to move on and I found a new plan to follow. I found it on bodybuilding.com . The plan is called Shortcut to Shred and by no means is it a shortcut! The cardio acceleration in between sets make this plan very intense. Today is my 5th day and I just love it!
